1. Acceptance
By accessing or using Understand Sunnah (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Description of service
Understand Sunnah is a non-commercial educational platform providing access to hadith collections with scholarly explanations. Registered users can bookmark hadiths, write notes, track reading progress, and submit content reports.
3. Educational disclaimer
Important
All content is provided for educational purposes only. Scholarly explanations do not constitute a fatwa or religious ruling. For personal religious matters, consult a qualified Islamic scholar.
4. User accounts
- You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password
- Usernames must be 3–32 characters: lowercase letters, numbers, and underscores
- Passwords must be at least 10 characters with uppercase, lowercase, a number, and a symbol
- You may have up to 4 active sessions simultaneously
If we discover that an account belongs to someone under 13, we will delete the account and all associated data immediately and without notice.
5. User-generated content
Personal notes are private and visible only to you. You retain ownership of your notes. By submitting a report, you grant us permission to use it to improve platform content.
6. Intellectual property
The original Arabic hadith texts are from classical Islamic collections and are in the public domain. English translations are sourced from publicly available non-commercial scholarly translations and are used solely for non-commercial educational purposes. Original explanations, interface design, and platform code are the property of Understand Sunnah. You may not reproduce, redistribute, or commercially exploit any content from this Service without written permission.
7. Prohibited conduct
- Attempting to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service
- Using automated scripts or bots to scrape content at scale
- Attempting to disrupt or overload the Service
- Using the Service to distribute spam or malicious content
- Impersonating any person or organisation
8. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any direct, indirect, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last Updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under these Terms are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
